DOGS AVAILABLE:

“JET”-Spayed Female-Pit Bull Mix, Very Shorthaired, Tan and white. Approx: 45 pounds. Approx: 12 years old “ How about opening your heart and your home to a sweet old gal who just needs to find a new spot to live out the years I have left? It seems that no one even looks at the older animals, and I have this old eye injury that makes me look even more odd ( I call it unique!) It doesn’t bother me a bit, and I’m okay with just seeing out of one eye. I need eye drops daily, but, that’s easy! My tail never stops wagging and I am always happy.I love to go for walks-anywhere is fine, through Town with people everywhere, or hiking on some trails. ( I may need a coat for the bitter cold though) I love car rides and I’m pretty good at the vets-although a bit squirmy (who wants shots anyway?) I’m so neat and clean, I even fluff up my own dog bed. I love to snuggle up in my comforter and hide my face. I get along with cats, but, I wouldn’t mind not living with hyper, pesty ones-they bug me. I could probably live with another laid back dog, after a meeting or too. I’m really the happiest just being with my family and going for a stroll, a ride or spending a cold day curled up on the couch. (Did someone mention couch? That’s a lot better than  my bed on the floor!) So far, no one has any interest in me, but, who knows, when I ‘m being walked by a volunteer, just maybe someone will see me and see how happy I am, and might even inquire about me. I really would prefer a home, instead of my dog kennel. I’m really no trouble!” CAN NOT BE FORGOTTEN JET ps. I think I would prefer my home with just one dog-me, but, cats are ok
“MAURICE”-Neutered Male American Bulldog X Shorthaired Tan and White. Large, approx: 60 pounds. Approx: 1 ½ years- “ I was delivered to the animal shelter in the back seat of the Police cruiser. What a way to start my new life right? Already in trouble with the authoritees! It wasn’t like I really did anything wrong, I had been abandoned by my previous owners and I had been wandering the highway for awhile. One morning I found my way through a fence and was waiting on the front porch of the nearest house. I guess the homeowner was a bit surprised at opening the door in the dark and seeing a huge dog looking at him. Let’s just say-we were both scared. Not to mention the fact that I was starving-every rib showing, spine and hips sticking out- I guess I didn’t realize just how scary I was. So, the police and the ACO show up, I’m scared, but, I was offered a cookie and told to sit, so, that’s what I did- I sat, they put the leash on me and I hopped right up into the cruiser. There was a clean blanket and a buffet of food waiting for me at the shelter. I really didn’t care what happened once I smelled food. So, my life has changed quite a bit, I’m learning to behave on a leash-this is a tough one, I love to pull and I’m strong. I’m learning some new commands and how to take a cookie a bit more gently than I was doing.( I can’t help myself-on the streets, you grab what you can) I have now been to meet ‘the vet”. It went ok, I was a bit nervous with the holding/ head lock/ restraint thing, didn’t know what was going to happen to me! But, with some work and some good vet visits-go for a cookie, say hi, then leave, I think I will be fine for the next yearly check up. Not too impressed with this whole neutering thing, but, hey, if it keeps me happier, healthier and I have a chance for a home faster-then it’s all ok. I know, I’m told that this is a good thing! I just have two weeks of no jumping, leaping and pulling, then back to my training again. All in all, I’m a great dog who needs an experienced family. If there are kids, they should be older kids. I think I could be with some other dogs, but, due to my past neglect and lack of training, I really think I would love to be an only pet for now-just until I can learn to be well behaved . Plus, all the extra attention is needed to make up for my 1 ½ years of neglect. Show me food and I will learn fast! Is anyone willing to take on a soon-to-be-handsome boy who just needs some work? Obedience training would be a big help for me too. I may need some re house training and I think I should start off with crate training-just so I don’t get into a bit of trouble if left alone-I am still a puppy-sort of!” LOOKING TO BLOSSOM IN MY NEW HOME MAURICE ps-kids over 16 yrs, and fencing over 4 foot please!
“NIKKI”-Spayed Female-Pit Bull Mix. Tan, shorthaired. Approx: 2 years. 45 pounds. “Well, it’s been a long time coming, but, finally, I am available for adoption soon. I have been waiting pretty patiently, taking in all the kind words, good care, and non stop food. I’ve enjoyed a clean bed to snuggle in every day, and I’m really liking the part about having my own stuff. I even got some fresh air in the back yard. But, as good as this sounds, it’s still just a dog kennel, cement floor, cement walls, and animals coming and going to their homes, while I waited. I want my own family, a nice yard with actual grass and a family who loves me. I have learned some commands, but, I am struggling on the house training part, so, I will need a family who is determined to work with me on schedules, patience and understanding. I am pretty good for leash walking, not a bad companion for car rides, and I really liked the vet that I just went to when I was spayed. I would love a fenced yard to run in, and a buddy to sit with on the grass. ( I love sitting in the sunshine!)I love rope toys, and large, safe tennis balls. I get along with most dogs, but, if any already live in my new family, we would have to meet a few times. I would like a family with kids over 16 years old, and I think not having any cats around to chase may be a good idea ( I can’t resist them when they run!) It has been a long wait for me, so, I’m hoping an experienced dog person will take me in and give me all kinds of help to give me a great life in my furever home. I have come a long way, and there is hope in my future!” WAY TOO CUTE LITTLE NIKKI
“NAOMI”-Spayed Female-Pit Bull Mix. Brindle with White. Shorthaired. Approx 3 years. 45 pounds. “ I’m another long-waiter who is finally available. Through no fault of ours, we have just been stuck in limbo for awhile (it seemed like forever at times!) But, I have to move on, and enjoy the fact that there is a great chance for having a real family soon. I have blossomed since I have been at the shelter. I know some commands, I’m pretty much house trained ( a little scheduling at first and I should be fine) I’ve been to the vets and did well, I’ve gone for car rides, and I have gone for long walks with a bunch of other dogs. ( I will admit, I do better when I am the lead dog on my walks, but, I am learning to relax about that also) I could use some obedience and socializing, and I would do best with a family who has some experience with a dog like me. I enjoy the great outdoors (in the nice weather) and I love to just sit around in the back yard and watch and listen to all the sounds. I also love to snuggle! I get along with some dogs, but I would have to meet any dog who I may be living with. A few visits to be sure we are a pair is worth the extra time for a forever home! I’m pretty much a happy, energetic girl who needs a nice home. I bet I could be a great agility dog or frisbee dog if I had the chance! So, if you want to add some brindle to your home, come by and see me. I’m really cute! Kids over 16 would be best, I am a bit strong and out-going!” WANTS TO GO FOR LONG WALKS NAOMI
“SHELBY” – Spayed female black lab mix 2 years.
