Cats, Collars and Indoor Homes:

What type of collar should I use?

One made of a soft, durable safety stretchable material. If you need to adjust the length of the collar, determine the appropriate length, then cut and seal the edge with a match to prevent fraying.

How tight should I fasten the collar?

It should fit snugly around the neck. One finger should fit easily between the neck and collar. If the finger can't, it's too tight. Being able to fit two fingers is too loose.

How often should the collar be checked?

Every time you pet your cat, take a second to check the collar. Cats and kittens both continue to change in size and weight.

Should the collar stay on all the time?

Yes. If your cat ever escaped your house, the tag on the collar is it's ticket home. Taking the collar off now and then to scratch the cats neck would be appreciated. Just make sure the collar is put back on.

Why should my cat(s) be indoors?

Responsible cat owners provide a happy and stimulating environment for their beloved cats indoors.

If cats are supposed to take care of themselves outdoors, why are there so many homeless cats? Some of them were probably someone's pet.
